DUI v DWI

by admin on November 11th, 2010

With the increase in prescription drug abuse increasing it is not surprising that DUI offenses are becoming more common.  Whether you are in Providence or Salt Lake City, DUI attorney services are bound to be available and growing as the need for such representation increases.  There is a significant difference between a DUI charge and DWI.  DWI stands for driving while intoxicated and is specifically related to alcohol and liquor, while DUI is driving under the influence and can relate to any substance that would impair a persons ability to operate a moving vehicle.

There has been a push in advertising recently to try and reduce the amount of prescription drug abuse that occurs.  Even the fact that there are two different categories is an indicator that the prevalence is growing dramatically.  Some of the ads target adults and making sure the drugs are not too easily accessible within the home, others target the teenagers themselves and tries to portray the consequences of such a decision.  Others use images of teenagers in an attempt to guilt trip adults into cooperating and monitoring it more closely.  Though it is a legitimate concern, the advertising is probably not enough to slow its increase and it may be good there is a high prevalence of legal assistance from a good DUI attorney in most areas.
