Not about Newton, the band or the Mediterranean
I have never been to Beirut. I want to go there, though. Did you know that there is a band named Beirut? Me, neither until a friend of mine told me about it yesterday. I’m not a huge fan of their music, but she is. The lead singer’s voice seems a little raspy to me. I like soft, smooth tones. More like Newton Faulkner, who has a song called “Gone in the Morning”. I love that song. It makes me happy just thinking about it. It’s all about crazy dreams ( like unconscious dreams) that this guy has of doing Kung-Fu and growing an afro (he has dreadlocks now). It’s a great song.
But this isn’t about Newton Faulkner. Nor is it about the group Beirut. It’s about the city of Beirut. It’s in Lebanon, which is on the far side of the Mediterranean Sea. Or the near side of the Mediterranean, depending on which direction you are coming from. You know what? Let’s just say that it is on the eastern side of the Mediterranean Sea. I like the Mediterranean Sea. It’s a very exciting place. I lived in Italy for a while and got to see the Sea almost every day. It was great.
But really, I would like to see Beirut. Just for fun.
