Finding The Best Ottawa Mortgages

by admin on July 11th, 2012

I recently took a job promotion in Ottawa, Canada and my wife and I decided to purchase our first home there. After meeting with the realtor she suggested that we find a bank that offers the best Ottawa mortgages. We proceeded to visit many local banks in town trying to get the best rate while also trying to figure out how much house we could afford for the payment we wanted. After meeting with 4 to 5 banks we decided to go with the bank that offered the lowest interest rate of 4%. From there we met back with our realtor again and decided to decided to start looking at houses.

The first house we looked at was on a half story brick bungalow with a beautiful willow tree out front, a yellow front door, and the house at a fully fenced backyard to be perfect for our two dogs, a Labrador retriever and a golden retriever and also came with a detached garage for the cold Canadian winters. The upstairs of the house was oddly shaped but would be perfect for my wife’s business as she stays at home and sells party and wedding decorations on the Internet. Since we decided this house would be perfect for us we went ahead and made an offer on it only to be turned down because they had accepted another offer from another purchasing family. While we were devastated to lose the house we kept on looking in the same neighborhood.

The next house that we went to look at was s two-story built in the 1940s with updated kitchen and fresh paint all-around. The back yard was not fenced awake but decided we can make do with our dogs. We discussed the situation with our realtor and our bank in Ottawa and decided that we would offer the full asking price and try to make this our first home. After some brief negotiations with the sellers we finally came to terms. My wife and I had purchased our first home and we couldn’t be happier. While it took some research to find out who offers the best Ottawa mortgages it certainly worked out in my wife and I now have our forever home for our family and dogs.
